You've reached the midway point between the first and second half of The Inferno's layers. You find yourself in a vast open field full of oddly colored sunflowers. Scattered across the fields, there are farmhouses that appear to be old and damaged. Depending on your luck, you may be granted a brief few moments to rest after all of the strain you've put your body through. Looking up at the sky, you will find a bright blue sky made dim by a solar eclipse left frozen in time. Everything here seems peaceful, quiet. But you know better by now. The sky turns red, the sun burns a bright hot white, and the doors to the farmhouses open one by one, revealing the threat of this layer.
The harvesters, often described as being manifestations of pure shadow, take on humanoid shapes that resemble old farmers. They are described as having two beady eyes and a wide smile both made from either white light or holes within their silhouettes. They appear when the sky turns red, to enact a ritual known as "The Harvesting".
